I’m James Blackmon, a licensed minister, musician, educator, and a storyteller shaped by years of professional work in the theatre.

I’ve been married to my husband, Duane, for 32 years -12 of them legally - and I know firsthand the power of standing in front of the people who matter most and publicly claiming your commitment to one another. That experience deeply informs how I approach every ceremony I officiate.

I bring a calm presence, a thoughtful ear, and a strong sense of pacing and tone to each wedding. With a background in music and performance, I’m especially attentive to the flow of the ceremony - how words, silence, and music work together to create something that feels grounded and real.

I proudly officiate LGBTQ+ affirming ceremonies and work with couples of all backgrounds, beliefs, and identities.
